First post up for 2013! Whoohoo!

In this one I have 3 things to share with you.

1. An amazing story that may shape the course of your year (even LIFE).

2. A massive book recommendation. Seriously the best book i’ve read for the last 5 years or so.

and 3. Some things that are happening with the blog, our Secret Society Mastermind course plus details of my own adventures and goals for this year.

It’s been a great start to the year. I just finished watching the Australian Open tennis with some friends on the weekend.

Now, Roger Federer. This guy is just incredible.

The reason I like him so much is because no matter what is happening in the game he always maintains the same temperament.

If he is losing, he seems calm and collected.

If he is winning, he seems calm and collected.

He doesn’t celebrate too hard, pumping fists in the air after a point, nor does he drop his head or throw his racket if things are going bad.

The ULTIMATE professional.

In part 2 of this post (the book recommendation) I talk about a personal philosophy called Stoicism and how it can help you attack your day to day game with the same level of skill as our friend Roger.

So let’s explore the first thing I have for you…

1. Following The Path With Heart

Click to play now

Note: I’m just getting used to my new camera rig. Canon 5d mkIII. So bear with me on the new camera shots!

Have you ever been doing something, hanging out with someone or just felt like things are just RIGHT? Like you are plugged in, totally focused and energised and excited for what you are doing.

That’s the path with heart.

In the above video I share a really personal story that I was reminded of from one of my very first freedom trips.

This story and the lesson I learned from an old man at a remote beach asked me to wake up and follow the path that had the most heart in it.

As it’s the start of the year you should be very conscious of wether you are on a path with heart or not. Have this question in the back of your mind for the next week or so as you start to shape the course of your year.

I know whenever i’ve followed the path with the most heart myself, things have ALWAYS worked out.

One of our Secret Society members made the decision to quit his day job during the 2021 course and poured his heart and soul into it. It was his path with heart and now he is making great sales and connections in his freedom business leading him to an entirely new way of life.

Lesson for you: Might be time to take a leap on to the path with heart?

2. Book Recommendation: A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy by William B. Irvine

goodlife

I’m not quite sure how this great read came into my lap (well, on to my kindle).

The book describes, in detail, the characteristics of every great person i’ve ever met and also the skills/philosophy on how to actually live like them too.

Have you noticed that some people just GET THE JOB DONE. No complaints, no worries, just pure DO-ers?

Or have you ever known a man who is so courageous that he almost seems like nothing could ever phase him?

This book will show you how to live moment to moment unshaken by life’s ups and downs and also how to obtain an inner peace that will bring great joy to your moments.

It’s like Zen/Eastern philosophy mixed with western logic. A perfect combo for me as I find the eastern stuff to be a little too woo-woo a lot of the time and had trouble getting into authors such as Eckhart Tolle.

Without going into the origins of stoicism (note though that the most powerful man in the world, the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius was a stoic) It’s the PERFECT philosophy for entrepreneurs or anyone trying to do anything amazing.

One quick lesson from the book was that when you are with someone, imagine that this is the very last time you will ever see them again.

This will ensure you don’t take this moment with them for granted and start being more present to them.

I used this technique with a girl i’m seeing during the week. To be honest I wanted to get some work done rather than hang out, but since I was with her I didn’t want to think about work…

So I pretended this was the last time i’d see her.

Then I really started to enjoy being with her. I made more eye contact, listened more and enjoyed the company a whole lot more than if half my brain was focused on other stuff and just pretending to listen.

Lesson for you: Over the next couple of days, pretend this is the VERY LAST time you will do things. For example, hanging out with someone pretend this is the last time you will do it.

OR when at the gym or going for a run, pretend this is the last time your body will ever get to move or lift like this again.

Notice how much more focused and powerful that moment is.

Grab a copy of the book here and let me know what you think!

3. Freedom Business Blog and Tim’s goals for 2013

Tonight I fly off to Thailand to meet with the people who went through our Secret Society Mastermind course and will be filming the entire adventure for you.

This will be the start of many adventures this year as I put my life into a bag and hit
the road. I want to film/photograph and send you as much inspiration from the road as possible. More details on this soon!

Whilst in Thailand i’ll be filming a serious of Freedom Business introduction videos.

These videos will be free to the email subscribers and will help you get started in your own Freedom Business.

Also of great news:

WE WILL BE OPENING UP A BRAND NEW SECRET SOCIETY MASTERMIND COURSE TO NEW ATTENDEES IN MARCH 2013.

Yep. It’s happening so stay on the email to get more information.

The blog structure this year will be changing up to 1 blog post/email per week instead of the daily email.

I feel that although I like the daily snippets, 1 content-rich post and email per week is probably more valuable long term as I can’t even remember what I wrote in any of the daily emails last year!

What do you think?

Important: Leave a comment below now with your ideas/comments/suggestions/excitement about your own 2013 and also what YOU would like to see happen with the Freedom Business Blog in 2013.

I’ll reply to you when i’m in Thailand… Flight out in 8 hours. WOOHOO!

Can’t wait to continue the adventure with you!

PS. Here’s the article where the guy outsourced his job to China.

The REAL Secret To Happiness

(click the image to see full size)

One of our Secret Society Mastermind members, Paul (who is crushing his own freedom business) sent me this yesterday… Note that this is not his balance, but he found it somewhere… I don’t care where he got this from but I love it!

I couldn’t believe it when I read it. Pretty much echoes my own experience… Well, apart from the bank balance which we are not at quite yet ;)

Here’s what the little note next to the $12,810,611.09 says:

The secret to happiness is FREEDOM. This right here (arrow to balance) is FREEDOM.

The secret to freedom is COURAGE. All of your dreams can come true if you have the COURAGE to PURSUE them.

RID your life of distractions.

Don’t focus on RELATIONSHIPS, that’s a big one.

Don’t listen to the people who say STOP.

Just focus on YOU and your BUSINESS.

Everything else can come later, as it’s easier to get later than THIS.

Now the cool thing is you don’t need $12 million to live a freedom lifestyle.

That’s more like the super upgrade version that’s a hell of a lot easier to chase
when you have no boss, commitments or distractions that swallow up your days.

Definitely can relate to the relationships thing too. Any of you that have seen my dating stuff from the past, I spent many of my early years just worrying about having a girlfriend/life partner/girls in my life.

When you’re truly living the freedom lifestyle – waking up each day choosing how to spend your time… it becomes a hell of a lot easier to date.

Think about if that above bank statement was yours.

How would you move in the world?

How would you hold yourself?

How would you speak to people?

Here’s the thing: You would not take ANY shit from ANYBODY.

You can say NO to doing stuff you don’t like doing.

And this natural ease with yourself, when you aren’t worried about money or commitments will naturally attract the right type of people into your world.

I’m currently sitting at the airport right now writing this blog post and getting ready for a little freedom trip myself. This past couple of days was spent with a gorgeous feisty little girl I met out and also my closest mates watching football.

Freedom Lessons:

1. Put $100,000.00 in the bank ASAP

Figure out how to put $100,000.00 in your bank account with a freedom business (fastest way).

What will you sell? (physical product, virtual product, information product)

How much will you sell it for?

How many customers EXACTLY will you need to hit the $100k goal?

How will you reach and sell to those customers? (online/offline?)

When you bank your first $100,000.00 EVERYTHING changes.

2. What would you do with your freedom?

Who cares about the numbers in the account. What matters is what they represent. You need to figure out exactly what your days would look like when you have this freedom.

Question (post in the comment section below):

WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR DAYS IF YOU HAD TOTAL PURE FREEDOM?

No money constraints, no time constraints, no commitments.

What would you do if you woke up tomorrow and were totally free?

I’m really keen to hear what your freedom looks like and i’ll do whatever I can to help you get there.

What’s YOUR Biggest Challenge Right Now? (The Official Daily Email)

BY
ON Examples, Freedom Tips, Fun, Lifestyle, Motivation, Philosophy, Productivity Tips, Travel
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter+1Submit to StumbleUponShare on LinkedIn

If you’re goal driven like me you should be able to answer that question pretty quickly!

Perhaps you want to find a new relationship or even do some travelling or get in better shape… or perhaps launch a freedom business so you can do all of those things with less stress and more time.

After a short hiatus from the daily email (and a lot of where the hell are you Tim? messages) we are off and running again with THE OFFICIAL DAILY EMAIL.

3 Simple Reasons To Join The Daily Email Love

1. You’ll get a quick shot of motivation each day

When striving for any goal, it can feel a little bit unreal.
You can start second guessing yourself with ridiculous statements like
“Can I really achieve this? or is it all in my head?”

The daily email should be a quick alignment to your goals from someone else who is
chasing (and ticked off some) of their personal goals on the quest for freedom, fun
and of course adventure.

2. You’ll get free access to tips and resources to build your own freedom business

Little hints, cool books to read and all the latest freedom business tools.

3. It’s naturally nastiness free!

Meaning no hardcore sales pitches, affiliate links or any other stuff other than pure
value straight from the land of freedom business.

What the hell has Tim been up to?

Couple of things i’ve been focused on right now:

I’ve been HIGHLY focused on the ultra cool crew we have over at the “Secret Society Mastermind” (SSM) course, launched earlier this year.
Secret Society Membership Medallion

The members are doing EXCEPTIONALLY well, with most of them proud owners of their very own freedom business that they built from scratch with the use of outsourcers.

Here’s a shot of one member (who’s identity can’t be revealed for ultra secret reasons of course – hehe) in our forum who just pulled in a rather large sale from just one client using the freedom business content from SSM.

Click For Large Version

Another highlight was going to visit one of my virtual assistants, Jennifer in Boracay Phillipines (i’ll post a video of this soon!).

ANYWAY back to you…

It’s exciting times and i’m super pumped to be personally connecting with you over the daily email.

A question I had to ask in the above video was:

What’s YOUR biggest challenge right now?

AND

How can I help you? (what would you like to see in the Daily Email?)

Let me know in the comments section below RIGHT NOW…

Let’s go!

[VIDEO] Freedom, Fun and Adventure!

BY
ON Examples, Freedom Tips, Fun, Lifestyle, Motivation, Philosophy, Travel, Video
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter+1Submit to StumbleUponShare on LinkedIn

(or see on vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/42531567)
I made the above video about my last week where I flew up north to tick off one of my bucket list items (snorkel the great barrier reef).

The two things I value pretty much over all else are EXPERIENCE and CONTRIBUTION.

Experience, as in doing as many things with this short time you have as you can, and contribution, as in creating a legacy or body of work that leaves the world a little bit better off than when you found it.

The only thing holding you back from getting out there really is fear.

Fear to get out there and start experimenting, failing, testing, winning and experiencing all the highs and lows that go with it.

It’s pretty scary. But what other option is there? Being boring?

I want to share with you a story from my past week when I was on that boat doing my snorkel tour.

This is a story I sent to my daily email people so if you’re not on it and want to hear from me during the week go here.

Daily Email Story:

You know that old saying…

What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

Got a BIG realtime lesson in this today.

Listen up!

Alright so several hours ago I checked off one of the things on my list of ultimate rad things to do: snorkel the Great Barrier Reef.

Yes. It was the shizzle. Everything I wanted it to be and more.

ANYWAY LESSON TIME:

There was a guy from Euro somewhere who, at the edge of the boat – FREAKED OUT and clinged for his life at the edge. Not daring to venture  out and see all the amazing fish, coral and other world.

I feel like a really bad person for this but at first  I thought: “What the hell are you doing you scared little girl – get the f**k out in the water!”

But instead I just dived in and decided to worry about  myself – the guides were giving him help.

As I ventured further and further away from the boat in pure other-worldy heaven – taking in the brain coral, big ass clams, nemo fish in dancing purple and red coral, big ass fish, etc…

I thought LOOK AT ALL THE AMAZING THIS GUY IS MISSING OUT ON!

Just because he’s too scared to venture away from the boat.

So he is an extreme case of fear but then I thought about  what boats I’m still clinging too? (as a metaphor).

What boats are YOU still clinging to?

Do you need to venture out into unknown waters and discover
the amazing?

See most people think that venturing away from the boat will  result in failure and getting eaten by a massive shark.

The media and society would like you to think that. You’re safe if your scared. You can be controlled if you’re scared.

So as I sit here exhausted from my day in the ocean, I’m making  a promise to myself: venture further into the scary unknown waters.

I’d like you to make this promise to me too. If you’re scared on starting  a freedom business, asking out that girl you think is cute, or getting in great physical shape…

Then it’s time to let go of the boat.

EXPERIENCE IS EVERYTHING.
(and I hope I have contributed to you today)

Much love.

Get Your Very Own Virtual Personal Assistant (Part 1: How Your Assistant Will Change Your Life Forever)

BY
ON Automation, Case Studies, Examples, Freedom Tips, Fun, How-To, Lifestyle, Outsourcing, Working Remotely
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter+1Submit to StumbleUponShare on LinkedIn

Next to generating the cash as you travel the world, having your very own personal virtual assistant manage your email, calendar and even the ENTIRE business is the next best thing.

A MASSIVE trap that is easy to fall into is doing all the work yourself (not very freedom business like eh?).

The thing is when you start building your business up, making good income and having things go well, you don’t want to lose control and have everything crash.

There is a fear issue here that I personally had to get over. Handing over some of your business processes to someone in a country that is worlds away from you is really scary.

Here’s the thing though… Putting on assistants and outsourcers to do the actual work has been the single best thing I’ve done to turn a business that’s really just a created job into the REAL Freedom Business.

In this series of blog posts, i’m going to show you how to get your very own personal virtual assistant from the Philippines.

A personal virtual assistant should be the cornerstone of your Freedom Business setup.

boracay island, philippines

Boracay Island, Philippines

I’ve found the Philippines to be fantastic for a number of reasons:

1. The majority of people looking for virtual assistant roles speak really good American english and sound great on the phone

2. They are extremely friendly and loyal

3. They are highly skilled (most have a university degree) and even more productive and efficient than a lot of workers/people I know here in Australia

4. Average MONTHLY salary is from $250-$450USD. Yes that’s correct. You can have your very own PA for less than $500 per month.

Here’s just some of the cool things that your own personal assistant can do for you:

1. Manage Your Email (huge).

Email is like a crack addiction. Well, i’ve never had a crack addiction but I imagine my old relationship with email to be something similar.

The problem is: If you are on email, you are not doing things that are important. You’re being REACTIVE as opposed to PROACTIVELY productive.

I personally try to limit my email to 1 hard hour from 2pm-3pm. The rest of the day I either want to be PRODUCING (business stuff, secret society mastermind stuff) or COOL STUFF (travelling, hanging with friends, reading, listening or making music).

How many days have you had where all you did was answer every email as it came in, WHEN it came in?

VERY bad news.

Some silly people nowadays expect email responses within the hour of sending. That’s just ridiculous.

Email is also switched off on my iPhone.

The solution: Batch process email (wait until they all build up and nail at 1 or 2 points in the day)

The mega solution: Batch process AND have an assistant handle SOME emails (repetitive admin stuff).

You can have your assistant literally be you if you want and learn how to respond as you but I personally just have Jennifer (my assistant) chime in on emails that she can solve or knows the answers to.

I also have Jennifer send me a txt message if there is anything very (VERY) urgent that comes into the email inbox.

2. Manage Your Calendar

I use google calendar which makes things easy to share and update. This is shared with Jennifer.

If I happen to decide to make an appointment, i’ll txt message Jennifer the name, phone number, place and time of the meeting and wether or not I want her to call the person to confirm.

Very cool and impresses people you are meeting with that you are so organised.

Jennifer will even send meeting requests via email that automatically sync and put the times in peoples calendar.

3. Make Phone Calls

Jennifer has a Skype account with credit I’ve loaded in to make phone calls on my behalf.

She uses this at the end of every work day to call me and give me an update on what she has done. If I don’t answer she leaves a voicemail detailing her day, what she has completed and what she needs help with (more on this later).

These are the top 3. The truth is your assistant can pretty much do ANYTHING that is repeatable in your business.

I would go as far as to say at least 80% of what you currently do in your business (or job) can be outsourced to the Philippines.

The best part about it all really is you actually have an ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER.

I get text messages from Jennifer saying “Don’t forget to record that video today” or “I hope your meeting with Craig goes well in 5mins”.

It can get lonely running a Freedom Business by yourself, so having a cool assistant who cares about you and the business is just awesome.

Here’s a sneak peek interview as to what Jennifer sounds like:

And a couple of snapshots of our conversations on Skype:

When you get an assistant, you have to get used to being called “Sir” and “Boss”. It’s customary and quite nice I think.

Stay tuned for the next post in the series on “how to get your own personal virtual assistant.”

Please ask questions or anything you would like covered in this topic below!
