Attention Big Companies: We Are Coming After YOU.

In this post you’re going to learn:
- How you can take on the big companies with your little business (and win)
- Why it doesn’t matter where you are when running your Freedom Business
- The 2 reasons people will buy stuff from you
- A real life freedom business example
- Guy get’s FREEDOM logo tattoo (whoa!)
After I crawl out of the “freedom van” after a night around the campfire with my new found Scandinavian friends, I turn on my little wireless wifi device and get an email from a client from one of my Freedom Businesses.
They need to talk around a project that I’m doing for them (well let’s be honest I’m mostly surfing and sitting around campfires whilst my team handles the work).
I crawl back into my van with the laptop to call them, feeling a little bit weird calling a corporate office whilst i’m in the middle of nowhere.
The call goes great, they actually buy another service and i’m CERTAIN that the person I was speaking too thought I was in some office in Melbourne just like her.
If only she knew!
It really freaked me out the day I realised that you could essentially become a big powerful company with your laptop, IN YOUR BEDROOM (or in my case, on a Queensland beach) – overnight.
Let’s get into the real nitty-gritty stuff here.
What do giant corporations have that you don’t?
So the big guys have more money, but they also have mega expenses to go with that. The office and all those people is a HUGE cost.
This is especially true when you consider how many activities within their businesses are not “BRING IN THE CASH” type activities.
I talk to a lot of people who work in large and small companies and the key point I get out of them (after they are a little embarrassed) is that most of the stuff they do is more like useless meetings, coffee breaks and sneaky Facebook checking until 5pm rolls around.
The real truth is that day-job soul sucking repetitive work is BORING.
Our bodies and minds THRIVE and STAY ALIVE on NEW STUFF. New experiences, new adventures, new sights, smells and tastes.
That’s where you have a secret advantage with a Freedom Business.
The idea of a freedom business is it’s LEAN.
No office. No time wasting coffee breaks for staff and no messing around.
It’s all about PERFORMANCE – that is: RINGING THAT ONLINE CASH REGISTER AND BRINGING IN THAT DOUGH.
Your outsourced workers don’t get paid until they produce a RESULT.
Heck, YOU don’t get paid until you produce a result.
This means in order to survive you need a lean, mean, agile freedom
MACHINE.
WHO CARES if you’re surfing on a beach then checking in once or twice a day and co-ordinating all the work?
As long as the work is done, the product is shipped and the client is overjoyed – what else matters? Certainly physical location in this massively connected world doesn’t.
I’ve done deals and taken care of business in airports, on trains, up rugged mountains and in many cafes all over the world.
The world is your office.
So how will people buy your stuff while you’re on a beach?
Well the 2 reasons that people are going to buy anything from you while you’re anywhere are…
1. You/your product gets the job DONE or provides an EXPERIENCE
2. They like you
(note how beacuse of the wonderful world of laptops and the internet how these are LOCATION INDEPENDENT)
So to win against the big companies with their big offices and staff all you need to do is provide a better EXPERIENCE for the customer of these top 2 things.
Here’s an example of a freedom business I consulted for and helped setup for my fantastic accountant:
http://www.click2convert.com.au/
Notice the voice in the video, anyone?
Now this site is run by specialist accountants, for accountants so the
product is especially targeted at them.
The key is to realise how much personality shines through this site.
Forget the word BRAND. Think PERSONALITY instead.
It’s a potent video that is to the point and asks for the sale in a non-salesy way.
It’s got an “I’m your friend and I can help” feel. Brilliant.
So a note to the big companies out there – BE VERY AFRAID. We are LEAN, MEAN and COMING TO GET YOU.
We are the freedom business laptop army!

PS. Check out this guy who sent me pictures of him getting the FREEDOM logo tattood on himself. THAT’S FREEDOM COMMITMENT RIGHT THERE! WHOA!

February 28, 2012 at 1:33 pmI’m ignoring all the awesome content to comment on the tattoo:
DAMN that’s commitment. No more turning back or else it’s the F for fucked for life. You made the mental decision to break away from the mediocre life. That is die hard man.
Now go and do it and don’t look back.

February 28, 2012 at 1:55 pmCool stuff Tim,
but one thing i REALLY wanna know is, does freedom businesses pays taxes?
i have a physical business, and what we pay of taxes( specially here in Brazil) is absurd
If Freedom Business doesn’t have to pay it is a lot more of advantage

February 28, 2012 at 7:05 pm(Where I´m from) you have to pay as much taxes for a F-Business as for a normal one.
You could just not pay, cause your business is not really “tangible” for normal people.
I will though as soon as cash is coming in strong.

February 28, 2012 at 7:47 pmI thought would be easier to start without register a company. Just with a website selling your products, then when you grow up .. maybe…register it…
How secret society guys do it?

February 29, 2012 at 5:05 pmStarting the blog, what do you guys typically choose as a theme? Also, where do you get this theme?
BRUNO
March 2, 2012 at 11:25 amHello dude,
When you host your domain, go to the CP area and install wordpress.
There are a lot of themes that you can choose, and it is pretty easy to use.
I didn’t know anything about how to make a website, and i build my own in a week ( i really did not know.. i even did not know that i have to register a domain and host it haha)
But WordPress is a great friend for those who is starting now.

March 6, 2012 at 9:39 amI have a question. Did you produce this product just by yourself. Or was it excisting and you just added your own PERSONALITY on it ?
